I think we might as well make this the general discussion thread for Bump and Jump.. I gave it a generic enough title
garph, you've got a point, but remember they have to agree to the rules saying it's not banger racing before joining the race, so they have very little defence. But, yeah, 'reminding' them first is a good way to go about it

Quickly switching the purpose of this thread - the system is down in the Bump and Jump server, as of about five minutes ago, because some clever people thought that voting to End Race would get them the RB4 they were whining about driving - seems that the manual End Race has killed the system. Obviously $admin is down, and LFS couldn't find Becky online, so this was the only way I could think of to notify you guys.
Is there any way to disable manual End Race votes such as that?
EDIT - Correction, it's actually down in all CTRA servers.

Good to hear a 'backup plan' is in place... Although I hope it's not needed much
Problems like this will always happen with new software, just have to deal with them when we find them, and come up with contingency plans. It won't be long before everything runs smoothly, and you can get some sleep

I see and take all of your points, particularly about going from beta to live - suddenly, you've no idea who's in the server and what they might be doing.There is also the fact that it's quite possible to click the 'I agree' button without reading or absorbing the rules - sadly, it seems a fair few people are doing just that. But I think that once these first few days of madness (of excitement on our parts, just outright madness on some others'

My first words will have to be, I absolutely love Bump and Jump, I think it's a fantastic way for us to get into racing in another way, and much less seriously too. It's a brilliant laugh, and a great way to wind down from full-on racing.
However, it's pretty difficult to wind down when you're constantly being wrecked...
It seems that a few people are taking the Bump and Jump server to be a place for a demolition derby, a banger race, whatever you want to call it - but using other cars as brakes is not what Bump and Jump is supposed to be about.
So, what I'm making this thread for is to ask if there's any chance of a second Bump and Jump server being brought up, which, like the CTRA 2 and 3 servers for general and single-seater racing, requires a higher licence for entry. I think this would allow those who take the Bump and Jump racing as a different sort of competition, rather than a less serious one, to race in a much better environment - and have fun without being piled into walls by immature beings who can only get enjoyment out of destroying other peoples'.
Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy to keep it as it is, but what are your thoughts on this?

But they generally are used by eejits, excessively. I think there should be some sort of system against those who blast people for no reason, but it's hard to define and even harder to enforce without a flat-out ban on horns altogether. Hmm.. It's something to think about.

Sorry to say it, Becky, but it turns out that when I try and write it ingame, 'McKee' is still replaced without the capital 'K'. It's fine via the website, but doing it from $ctra in-server still doesn't work. :S

Looks to me like you joined at a time when the database was doing something dodgy, and it's now back normal - ie, it did lose your stats, and then regained them. Unless I'm very much mistaken, you couldn't have got that many points in that amount of races. Is it back to how it was before the server shutdown a while back?

Now, rather than make a new thread and clutter up the forum, I'm afraid I've got another problem to point out - in-server, under the $ctra screen, where I can enter my names to go on my licence - Trying to enter 'McKee' is disliked by the field, and instead it replaces my last name with 'Mckee'. Obviously, this is the system automatically setting the first character to be capitalised and forcing all others to be lowercase, but not everyone's name is like that
I've seen other systems (in totally different applications, but the same problem) that do this, but is there anything you can do about the automatic Capital Police making my name wrong? I'd like to see my full name on my pretty new licence
I'm only mentioning this minor gripe because I know you'd want it to work perfectly for everyone

Indeed, every race is earning no points for anybody, and a lot of licences have been reset to zero Copper. Apparently (I hear from Jakg), the database crashed and has locked itself to prevent further damage, so we're just practicing until it gets fixed.

Congratulations to you personally, Becky, for your dedication, and to Sam and the team for their hard work to get all this into the servers. I can't quite tell you how excited I am about all these new features, part of me wants to dive in straight away, while part of me wonders how long it'll be before I can use everything you've given us to its best!
I think some mention should go not just for your work, but also your ingenuity - I'll bet there was a fair share of problems that needed a more lateral approach to solving, but more with the ideas you've come up with.
